Ionic and Covalent
An ionic compound is between a non metal and a metal. The ions in ionic compounds are held together by electrostatic forces. Ionic compounds have a high melting and boiling point and are very hard and brittle.
A covalent compound is between two nonmetals. Covalent compounds have a much lower melting and boiling point then ionic compounds. They are also soft and squishy unlike ionic compounds.
